Every gift keeps a door open for someone arriving with nothing.
Vera's Place runs on $655 a month per bed. When someone arrives from treatment with no income yet, a sponsor is the difference between a bed and a shelter.
One bed, one month, at exactly what it costs us. Give once or monthly; a recurring sponsor is a bed we can count on.
Sponsor a monthSeven nights of safe housing while someone gets their first paycheck.
Sponsor a weekOnline giving is being set up. For now each button opens an email to info@myverasplace.com; we'll reply the same day with how to give by check, bank transfer, or Zelle, and tell you whose time you covered.
What a new resident needs in week one.
- Bus passes and ConnectCards
- Twin bedding and pillows
- Towels and toiletries
- Work boots and work clothes (all sizes)
- Kitchen basics: pots, pans, storage containers
- Gift cards for groceries
Hire in recovery. Host a meeting. Show up.
Employers who'll hire someone with a gap on their resume. Churches and groups who'll host a meeting or a meal. Tradespeople who'll donate an afternoon. Businesses who'll stock the wish list. If that's you, we'd like to hear from you.
Beds, not overhead.
Sponsorships cover the monthly cost of a specific bed for a specific resident. Wish-list gifts go straight into the house. We'll tell every sponsor whose month or week they covered, and we'll publish a simple annual breakdown here.
